Kapiti based singer/songwriter Hinemoana Baker is an artist of many talents. Not only has she just released her debut full length album "Puawai", at the same time she has released a beautiful book of poetry titled "Matuhi | Needle".

 

 

 

Hinemoana had simple requirements for her website:

• she wanted to be able to design her own website
• she wanted to be able to update her own website
• she wanted the website to sell her CD and book for her
• she wanted it ready in time for her album and book launch in late October, 2004

The problem with some website content management systems is that the templates that they provide do not offer complete flexibility for designers. This can be especially frustrating for artists, who place a high priority on design. Klixo understand this and that's why we use XSL stylesheets to define style in a website: If you can design it in HTML, you can design in in XSL.

The concept and initial design for the site was provided by Hinemoana herself as MS Word documents (!) with photos and artwork from Andrew Dalziel and Georgie Kerby. Daniel Larsen from Klixo Ltd provided the final design and programming.

Because www.hinemoana.co.nz is powered by Klixo, Hinemoana can update her website herself with news, tour dates, reviews and photos whenever she likes.

this website works for its owner

www.hinemoana.co.nz features a Real Player powered "listen" feature that allows visitors to the website to listen to Hinemoana's entire album as they surf. Clicking on the album cover takes a user to an e-commerce store front developed by Klixo that allows visitors to purchase the album and book online. Klixo process and complete the order on behalf of hinemoana.co.nz.
