Deleting stories & pages

When you save a story, a copy of it is saved in a webpage called an archive. Klixo automatically archives stories so that there is always a backup. Archives are designed to be kept forever and never be deleted. Klixo also publishes all of the web pages on the server that contain the story.

When you delete a story or page from Klixo, you do not actually delete the file from the server, only the record of it. The Klixo CMS will never have a feature to delete the actual archive or page files from the server as it violates the URI spec, but we do have a feature for you to update your pages and stories of course.

You should never delete a webpage, because you never know who may be linking to it. Deleting the document leaves a "dangling link". One of those websites that will be linking to it is Google, and they won't delete their link just because you deleted your document, they will think there is something wrong with your web server and keep the document in the supplemental index for six months!

A better option is to update the story in Klixo to say it has been deleted.

Here is an article on why you should never delete a page or change a page's address from the Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the internet: http://www.w3.org/Provider/Style/URI
